A Walk For Freedom Poem by Randy McClave

A Walk For Freedom

She walked for miles and miles
With expressions of excitement, relief with smiles,
She walked under the moon and the sun
While protectively leading her precious children.
With every step that she takes
She knows there is no error or mistakes,
She is just looking for a better life
As would any mother running away from evil and rife.
She with her three kids walked from Guatemala
With the grace of God and not of Allah,
She was looking for that special something
As to her children she did sing.
She didn't arrive to break into your double-wide
As others have tried,
And she didn't come to steal your non-existent job
She didn't come to murder or rob.
She didn't come here for your empty beer cans
Or for your food stamps that's not her plans,
She didn't come here to sell your cousins meth
All she wants is freedom as she exclaims with every breath.
She and her children came here and made it alive
They came here to live and help and build and survive,
She didn't come here to be a beggar
She came here for her children to be free said her.
