A Warrior No Longer Poem by Bryan Taplits

A Warrior No Longer

My days were once
Oh! so easy
My kingdoms all in their rows,
And there were fights
and swaggered nights-
And they seemed
not so long ago.
I went through all the doors of my life
Like the scythe takes on the green grass
And mowed false friends and
honest enemies down
Never doubting that my strength
and my vigor would last.
Unfortunately,
that day came about
Where I met day this giant and sage
We fought the good fight through
many days and many nights
And finally I did lose
to that imperturbable knight
Old age.
