A Willing Sacrificial Lamb Poem by Bryan Taplits

A Willing Sacrificial Lamb

Behold: She spun and flung her web
With a smile I'd never seen
Her back it arched, about to pounce
A predatory scene.
She looked at me
She licked her lips, about to take me in
I saw no reprieve-
In her predatory needs-
Since she was still my sin.
Awoke at last, the dawn stretched it's day
I joined it with relief
No more was I the innocent dupe-
and she my predacious beast.
Oh why? Oh why? Do you always deny
My craving for your heart
I gladly would pay you with all my life's worth -
If you‘d skitter towards me-and not apart!
Though slow is your pace in this venomous race
And in your stalking, which I still view as 'dear',
I fear not your demon or monster who sallies forth-
Yes, I confess-
I am a most willing (and tumid) volunteer.
