A Weird Universe Poem by Paul Hartal

A Weird Universe

Stars are poetic and romantic worlds
and they are astonishingly numerous.
Poets will probably never have a shortage of them.

As you might know, we live in the Milky Way,
surrounded by ten billion other galaxies
with an average of 100 billion stars
in each of them. And this number applies
merely to our visible universe.
It is an incredibly colossal amount of stars,
namely, one billion trillion,
which is expressed as 1 followed by 28 zeros.

Now, matter is frozen energy
and physicists say that in the strange realm
of quantum physics, in the quantum vacuum
beyond our visible cosmos, every cubic centimeter
of empty space holds more energy than the total energy
of all the matter in our perceptible world.
