Abandoned Poem by ROOP REKHA BHASKAR

Rating: 4.3

Lost halfway ‘Neath the canopy,
Discarded after great fanfare.
Trumpets blew at the fairy tale nuptials;
And the delightful wedding march.
Then one day, he shed her,
To be ripped by human sharks.

They were ecstatic spirits! Glazed with profound bliss-
No soul existed; they were sightless to the world.
Enfolded hands, eyes wrapped, coupled breaths.
There was none left, who didn't envy their stride.
And then one day, he plunged her; in pitch dark recess.
Groping for her vision, midst the colorblind mass.

He abandoned her, leaving imprints like a mist-
Of shadowy gloom and anguished pain,
He was senseless to the senses,
Of Understanding, Love and Respect.

She sobbed seas of tears, She was absent to the world;
She sang her fears, to heedless deaf ears.
She shattered into pieces, yet no one saw the fragments;
All resigned her fate, except her little voice.

“Wake up Little Angel and March the thorny path.
Your dance of happiness will sway away your wrath.
At the end of the spikes, you will find a flowery bed.
I’ll give you the strength and hope” was all the voice said.

She sprung up from her slumber and
Shed her entrapped life.
Now famous and rich, and noticed as the Diva,
Every man in town, wanted to be by her side.

The brazen man was back, to woo her into him,
Now a disheveled mortal, crowing for a hand
She tried to wind her senses yet could not feel a thing.
Alas! He was too late,
To share her bed of Roses.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
this is the story how a young woman in her prime of her life fell in love only to realize he was worthless and did not deserve her. she finally picks up her life and becomes famous; that's when the man who ditched her comes back for her. she had walked alone and now did not need him anymore. She was tall and strong without him. and she realized she did not feel a thing for him.

This one is better......showed woman in a better light, unlike 'The Butterfly.' A bird perching on the branch of a tree is confident that it won't fall off. Not that the bird trust the branch but it trusts its wings. Have trust in oneselves instead of gropping in the dark.

Reminded me of an old movie of Rekha-ji with Kabir Bedi (forgot the name) in which she returns to wreak vengeance on the man who betrayed her. Loved this poem.

Touching indeed! Strength of a woman has been very well portrayed.

Perhaps this may be fiction, but such sad incidents happen around us. After a colourful marriage of great fanfare and once the honey moon days pave way to harsh realities, the bride realizes that her groom is a real rogue! The relationship is broken and he goes in search of fresh pastures! The bride some how learns to stand on her own feet! When her man like the prodigal son returns, she turns her back to him who is in no way worthy of her! A touching tale told very convincingly!

An excellent poem about tragedy of love being spurned by another. An uplifting spirit within her flowing like a fountain, enabling her to shed her misery, growing wings and soaring into a world of fame and fortune. Leaving the one who had left her in the self same situation to find his way alone like she did! This is what I call poetic justice! Love this poem! 10 -10's if I could! Very good imagery, feeling, emotion, rhythm, this poem has it all! Thank you for sharing and for your comment on my poetry. RoseAnn
