Abolished In 1969 Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Abolished In 1969

Forty Words:

When 'hanging' in Britain was the norm,
Schoolboy Jimmy was sad and forlorn.
Although the criminal was always a stranger
Hanging seemed wicked from any angle...
Jimmy was far too young to protest,
But 'hanging' ended at the people's behest.
