About You Poem by Holly Jamestone

About You

When you've given till scraped knuckles
Signal the pail is still empty
Despite numerous patch attempts of
Honoring tradition just
For the sake of it

When your umbrella stops opening
But your hopeful, heavy shoulders
Still embrace the pelts of rain
Let nature's outstretched arms transcend
You to a new plane

You now get to make it About You
Reclaim your purpose
Though others may try to pull weeds
From your garden, planting seeds
Of who You should be

With rain gone, keep picking the flowers
For your fragrant bouquet
As no meddling bees even attempt
To land on your wrist or ever
Try to make it about them

Your newly tended soil and plan will
Straighten huddled shoulders
Turning them to freely see the warm sun
And a cleanly defined horizon
Absent of all gray

With clouds obscure, just keep picking blossoms
Their strong stems awash with color
As these are your friends and
The seasons of your life, the true ones
Who understand
ABOUT YOU
