Absence Is

Since that night, long ago
each night,
I close my eyes to your smile.
A rose I gave to only you,
and I now wait.

To the sky and back,
black an ocean without clouds.
The sky at dawn is pink,
and arm's are opened wide.

Sitting in a tree I see,
the raising of a flag.
It's colours bleed,
as they flow free across my sight.

Since that night, so long ago,
each night.
