Adieu Is Such A Sweet Word - Poem by Megan Ayscue

It's been a cruel, cruel day
Time has taken me in her sweet arms
And thrown me into the mud
Kicking me into the dir
Like a forgotten page in a book
Nobody will ever remember
The sweet scent of the future
Is still too far away
Nothing will help me now
Have to keep going at this sickening pace
Have to hope to get there soon
Songs and laughter all around me
Nature's slow motions whispering in my ear
In front of me, the future
Behind me, my past
In the present is hardship
Pain, agony
Burning me and catching me on fire
With a million fires searing me all over
Roasting my heart on a spit
The present is a tough place
Adieu is such a sweet word
Wishing a good bye
Wishing the past to slip away
For the future to begin anew
Adieu, my friends
