Admira And Boško (Romeo And Juliet Of Sarajevo) Poem by Jankovic Zoran

Admira And Boško (Romeo And Juliet Of Sarajevo)

The story of Boško and Admira was first told to his mother,
and later to the whole world.
In a letter to his mother in 1993 he wrote:
'If I die, bury me beside them.'
His name was Kurt Schork, an American journalist.
He was killed in Africa in the year 2000.
His ashes found peace
at the Lion Cemetery in Sarajevo, beside Boško and Admira.

Admira and Boško (Romeo and Juliet of Sarajevo)

On a deserted meadow grew
both love and hatred.
Love, the most beautiful flower,
and hatred, withered leaves.

On the empty meadow grew,
two flowers in love,
from the same city,
the same land,
the same color called love.

The withered leaves said:
'You are not the same.
You are white,
and he is yellow.'

Forever they departed,
two flowers
of the same colorful
shade of love.

For days upon the bridge
they lay dead,
two flowers alike,
the same color of love.

Death does not divide love,
for love has no nation.
Whoever loves does not choose.
His name was Boško,
her name was Admira.

Priču o Bošku i Admiri je prvo ispričao majci
a posle čitavom svijetu.
U pismu majci iz 1993 godine piše:
' Ako poginem sahrani me pored njih.'
Zvao se Kurt Šork, američki novinar.
Poginuo je u Africi 2000-te godine.
Njegov pepeo je našao mir
na groblju Lav u Sarajevu pored Boška i Admire.

Admira i Boško (Romeo i Julija iz Sarajeva)

Na livadu pusti rasli
su ljubav i mržnja.
Ljubav najljepši cvijet
a mržnja uvelo lišće.

Na livadi pustoj rasla,
voljela se dva cvijeta,
iz istog grada,
iste zemlje
iste boje zvane ljubav.

Uvelo lišće reče:
'Niste isti.
Ti si bijela
a on je žut.'

Odoše zauvijek
dva cvijeta
iste šarene
boje ljubavi.

Danima nasred mosta
ležala su mrtva,
ista dva cvijeta,
iste boje ljubavi.

Smrt ne razdvaja ljubav
jer ona nema naciju.
Ko voli taj ne bira,
on se zvao Boško
ona se zvala Admira.
