After I've Loved You Poem by Doris Cornago

After I've Loved You

Rating: 5.0

Why should I love you less
After I've loved you more
What's to be gained by
This punishment of
You, which is a
Torture of me
Too, say
Adieu
How
Could I
The moments
Stretch into minutes
Looking at you viewing me
Viewing myself too, wasting away

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Breaking up is hard to do - that summarizes the agony of having to separate after being together too long. You cannot believe that a love that was so right in the beginning could turn out wrong after all. Why start with love when all the emotions will just be wasted in the end? Nobody knows the answer but being heartbroken is the worst thing that can happen to two people who were once before, so 'perfectly' in love.

The wilted roses, with no fresh replacement, symbolizes the end of a once beautiful relationship. Must all good things come to an end?

Viewing is meant to be notified that the other party has seen the message but does not care to respond. This is termed to be reduced to the 'seen' zone. I do this when I want to give punishment to someone who forgot the requisite goodnight 'kisses' after a long day's work.: (

I took a deep sigh after reading it...a very heart touching poem...truly a reality without knowing the reasons at all... thank you for sharing, a rate of 10! Cheryl

It's a privilege to be read by one of the top poets. It's in our deepest sorrow we find so much joy in writing poems, our haven. Thank you for the added value of kinship.: -)
