Air Raid - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

Air Raid - Lincoln Park Zoo

I am an emerald starling who
Is a very speedy bird that,
Here at home in Lincoln Park Zoo,
Hunts for bugs in my habitat.
As through the air I see bugs dance,
I know that my good hunt is on,
Giving the bugs a fighting chance,
They're in for bad phenomenon,
As I do leave my perch and fly,
Swooping down upon the birds there,
Who now are helpless in my sky.
I swallow all down in mid air.

I go back to my perch and wait
For next batch of bugs in doomed fate.
