POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM

Was taking city bus. I saw enormous clouds and the sun shining brightly. When I saw a potted plant in the shape of a fountain, I began to peer into the clouds more intently, and to find some way of expressing the wisdom I found there. So I decided simply to describe what I had been thinking when I reached that realization.
