Ajil Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Ajil

Ajil

He came back and for me, had a bag
-One of those freezer's plastics,
-the content was mixture
-of dried mulberry
-and almond, pistachio and cashew
-as well as walnut and long raisins…

What a food with joyful great taste
-complete with our needs
-iron and vitamins, protein
-and never fattening

This is how shepherds went to plains
-taking herds

This is what farmers did
-in the farms on their ways

Of course things differed when
-at home and with much time

This is how Persians lived
-the army left the land
-headed for the wild sea
-occupied Acropolis

With this I felt great
-sufficient

What is this modern life?
-living with the junk-food?

That mixture in Persian:
-is called, named, the "Ajil"
-healthy and complete
-as is fish with red eyes,
-blue fins
