You were innocent, you shared
The prejudices that connected us
Like prayer, and the world held firm
Behind its insipid certainties.
Now you have nothing to cling to,
You stopped making sense to people
And the ones who lifted you up
left you there without explanation.
How is a man to live like that
Except muttering and on his knees
Hanging one’s head in the shivering corn
And living with an unreasonable truth.
But we do, even though we begin thinking we are innocent, by default.
This is so touching. I enjoy poems that can be seen in many different ways, depending on the state of mind of the reader. I especially liked 'insipid certainty' - wish I'd thought of that! 10. Hugs Anna xxx

I would like to translate this poem
I took this poem literally. (as the title states...of an alien abduction) . There are so many stories of this yet, it seems so impossible. I know people that say they would LOVE to be abducted by aliens (if they exist) ....not me, for obvious reasons but also for all you've put here in your poem....those people do become viewed as ''crazy'' and confused. Great poem, really makes you think. Sincerely, Mary
