All Coins Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

All Coins

All coins

He covered the counter
-with coins and changes
-twenty were toonies
-and ten of the loonies
- "This is what they gave me! "

Came a voice:
- "Look at this! "
- "They broke their bank-pig! "
-he was the most expert, after years.

"Customers of fast food
-are dumb and lazy, and crazy! "

One shouted:
"Are slaves in name of freedom…"

I stood and observed.

Everyone talked logic
-though approached ideas did vary
-each comment had a core relative.

"I have worked here, long.
-can select best that want.
-but still do not eat;
-I know how we make it…"

I hear them speak, interrupt:
- "Do you mean dirty hands? "
- "Unfreezing old iced? "
- "Or many chemicals? "
- "All above and still…"
- "And still people buy…"
- "Buy because…"

They chatted and discussed,
-lucky I, heard and watched.

"Because they lost know how…
-and making in kitchen
-lost ways to prepare…
-to use the ingredients…"

They talked and were restless.

"Poor people are slaves…
-most of them work in towns
-nine to five…"
- "They never see sunlight, only bulbs'
-have no time for themselves…"
- "They are sold and purchased…
-like slaves in old days…
-cotton fields in Texas…"
- "In name of freedom…"

Someone said in loud voice:
- "Yes, we are equal…"
- "As slaves, toys and dolls…"

Old worker, a Russian
-took his chance:
- "Old and young, children
-have lost the memorise…
-ignored are recipes…
-that made food good, tasty
-from the pickled and
-spices to crops, beans and rice! "

Indian came between
- "Spices that give taste…
-appetite and smell…"

Said other:
- "What we sell is killer
-falsified with butter…"

Silently I smiled.

The colleagues made goo team
-as the words in poem with rhyming.
-I joined them by thanking,
-played it friendly:
- "Are we in Olympic? "
