All That I've Written - Poem by Michael P. McParland
I think of all that I've written
and almost all of it is for you,
and what can be found but a testament
and confession of true love.
I truly adore you sweet one.
There have been poems of despair,
poems of anger and hurt,
poems of confusion not knowing what's what,
poems describing the heights of
ecstasy and truly being happy,
the best poems where the truth is
in my admiration of you,
yet you'll find not one poem of hatred
because you my sweet darling I never could.
I've taken down many though I still have them,
the ones of anger and coarse words have
no place for anyone else's consumption.
I keep them as mine only because I wrote them,
not because I feel them.
Remember my Angel that the true words are loving ones,
the poems of my true heart and soul are the
loving ones with no harsh words.
My best and truest are my confessions and praises of you.
I think of you and all that I've written
and I hope and pray that no matter what happens
in our final fate you will treasure them always
my sweet loving Queen.
When we're together we will read them all as we sit
by a warm cozy fire,
going along I can tell you what I was thinking and feeling,
then declare with a kiss I love you more than ever.
I believe with my all that we'll be together but
God forbid we should not I want you to have them to treasure,
read them from time to time and remember your best friend,
admirer, true lover Michael and give me a smile,
filled with warmth and love to last forever,
but I know we'll be by that fire reading and laughing together.
I love you sweet lady and I'll never let you see
the poems of anguish, pain, and anger,
I know after the many years and cures they still hurt
and I won't let that happen because I will not put you in pain.
I am your man and protector and will not in any way make you suffer,
because you are my lady, my Angel, my Queen and my lover,
most of all though you're my soul mate and best friend,
I will give you only the best for eternity sweet lady.
