All That Is, Was Or Ever Will Be (Under A Rekindled Sun)

Rating: 5.0

Idolatrous lovers adoration
Is an insidious ecstasy of intoxication
Addictions desire
Brings withdrawals fire
And threat of rejection damnation
The decent form perfection, once known,
When we our own deity dethrone,
Leaves broken covenants,
Divorce from obligation,
Which is called the progress of civilized relation.
Atheism is the practical creed,
Immediate pleasure driven by greed
What is of greatest value crucify,
Defile all that is on high
With words we tear our lovers heart
Tender bonds fall apart
Broken covenants, dreams destroyed,
With continued closeness we grow annoyed
Intimate estrangement,
Agnostic conversion,
Orderly derangement,
Spiritual perversion,
Violating, vitriolic, verbal, violence,
Treasonous, mortal wounds in silence
Disemboweled, our vitality begins to unfold
Disavowed, our mortality we refuse to behold
Hoping that leaving the injury alone
It will heal on its own
The soul's blood spent
Through this irreparable rent,
Unheeded pours, through Eden's doors
Impossible to return to that innocent state
Cherubim, with flaming swords, guard the gate
No mortal, for this sin, can atone
On that cross, God must hang alone
Courage, cowardice, truth, lies
Inconsequential martyrdom, ignoble demise,
Hoping, despairing, pleasure, pain
Suffering, forgiving again and again
Buoyed up on fantasy's fragile wings,
By the winds of hope, that delusion brings,
Together we stand on shifting sand
On your hand that single band
In holy violation of God and Nation,
Our beginning initiation our final destination
Yet the rapturous delirium of your intoxicating illusion
Leaves me in hope that our deaths dissolution,
Results in our resurrection, more perfect than before
I'll wait for you beyond that door
