All This Fecundity

Rating: 5.0

Said the actress: “Take a peek and
determine whether I am fecund.
If flesh is willing
I’ll be billing
by hour, day and night and weekend.

Said her client, once a writer
who gave his pen up for his miter,
“A rabbi’s quicker
than a vicar,
but I will stay for a 3-nighter.”

Since bishops making love will lose
their dignity while oozing ooze,
his biases
and diocese
deterred him, and he said: “Let’s schmooze.”

Sarah Vowell reviews Joyce Carol Oates’ “Marilyn, ” a novelization of the life of Marilyn Monroe (LA Times, April 2,2000) . She writes: “Gentlemen might prefer her jiggling around in that satin gown, but she oozes ooze, a giggling, gurgling billboard of flesh. “The female body is a joke, ” points out the photographer who takes the nudie shots that would come back to haunt her. “All this -fecundity.”
