Almost But Not Quite (By An Old Friend) Poem by Sir T.A.E.P.S

Almost But Not Quite (By An Old Friend)

It really is almost what I dreamt of;
The bliss and joys,
The rest and best of my days
Spent in your arms of love
Almost yes, But not quite.

The moment I saw your smile
My head buzzed for a while,
How could it be that I fell for someone like you?
Someone so unique, fresh and ever new.
I knew from that day that we was meant to be
Almost thought, yes I did.
But not quite.

I hated the way other ladies gave you attention,
Hated the way other ladies strived for your affection,
We were just friends but you were beyond perfection.
The times we shared, the jokes we cracked,
The weekends we spared,
Dear you should have known that I cared
You almost did, but not quite.

To say that you love a stranger is nothing but crazy
Call me crazy but I really do love the man you are
Many scoff and say you are nothing but trouble
A boy who never grew up but now sprouts a beard.
The way I love you just isn’t funny,
It makes me find everything they say funny
No matter how much I try,
Loving you is a part of me and that I cannot deny
You almost loved me too, but not quite.

Don't you think I see the flaws in you?
Don't you think I see the man under the act?
Don't you think that to me nothing is pretend?
Don't you think that I’m the only one who knows you in and out?
I know you are vulnerable deep inside where no one sees
I know the pain you feel but you brave it out
That’s the man you are.
You almost fooled the world with that,
Yes you almost did but not quite.

I love you more than words can say
Thought it’s quite clear as I stand today
You and I will always be worlds apart.
I will always be that babe
And you will always be my almost
Yes, almost but not quite

I love you deeply,
I am proud of the man you are today
You made mistakes in your past but hey who hasn’t right?
You faced them up, lived them out and bashed them out
I hope you know I pray for you every day and night
I pray that you meet the lady who will do what I couldn’t
A lady who can be more than just a friend because hey,
I almost did but not quite

If I had to write a piece about you, about us
Guess what I would call it?
'Almost, but not quite”
But wait a minute, it sounds like....this
Correction, it almost does, but not quite
It really is almost what I dreamt of;
The bliss and joys,
The rest and best of my days
Spent in your arms of love
Almost yes, But not quite.
