Almost The Siglo De Oro

ALMOST THE SIGLO DE ORO

almost the siglo de oro
was rustling outside my door
Quixote with his windmills
De Vega with his dreams within dreams
living a life offshore
so had I tended the lilies
In the garden of the Lord
so had I wept with de la cruz
in canticles by the score
I will remember the legends
past inquisitional hymns
of all that fought with brave El Cid
and all who never did.
