America Poem by Selena Luna

America

This world's a bore
I'm tired of being so poor
But my problems they ignore
There's never justice and my heart grows sore

I'll never be anywhere near Al Gore
It's my skin color they'll always abhor
If we never make noise how will they hear us roar
They say we've progressed from before
But all I see is more racists courts

Keeping mind most of our things come from imports
In cities where children live in forts
All to feed the demand of the consumer which we receive in our largest ports

But we don't care as long as we got our money and product, right America?
Just don't buy anything we can't all profit from
Stay away from the black market and the devil's lettuce
America we should be able to smoke weed, why don't you let us?

My two aunts finally got married
But when can we smoke weed?
When will we actually help those in need?
When will we legalize natural therapy?
America why are we so caught up in greed?
Why do we hate to see our neighbors succeed?
When will we not have enemies?
When will we not make other countries suffer and bleed?

America where did we go?
Weren't we a nation to prosper and grow?

Society has gone the wrong direction. Maybe our children will be able to do better
