American Freedom Poem by Randy McClave

American Freedom

Freedom is sending your children to school
Where getting an education is the only and main rule,
Where soon they will be walking a scholars path
Starting an education with learning history, literature and math.
Where the classroom becomes a great educational place,
Each student with a different belief, social class and race.

Freedom is to worship the way that you want
And your belief you can always happily and proudly flaunt,
Anytime whether it be night or day
You have the right to worship and give praise as you pray.
Where religion indeed is the greatest freedom,
Unto which our belief we all do succumb.

Freedom is your children leaving your house without fear
Knowing that today for them you will not be shedding a tear,
Whether they're going to the park or to a friends or to a parade
You know that later they won't need a priest or a bandaid.
Where they know that one of their greatest rights,
It is being outside without fears either in the days or nights.

Freedom is the ability and the right to control your own being
Let your looks be happy to your own seeing,
It's your body your canvas and it's your home
Where you can decorate it, upgrade it, it's your own dome.
And no person or government has the right to condemn,
And only you have the right to keep or evict who is ever in.

Freedom is being who you are and who you love
And that's the greatest freedom given by God above,
When we were born we all were then given freedom of choice
We were all given by right that one voice.
We have the right to decide how we want to love and how to live,
That's the greatest right that freedom does give.

Freedom is having access to good and affordable housing
Where we all are excited for the looking and the browsing,
To find that one place with its golden key
Where we can have years of joy and dreams and even a family.
Where we don't have to ever say that we live in the slums,
And where we or our children are not ever seen as bums.

Freedom is always knowing that one job is good enough
Where you don't need two or more jobs to help keep your bills paid up,
Where you don't have to work multiple jobs or always on call
And you don't ever need government assistance at all.
You don't need to beg, borrow or plead or rob,
When you have the greatest freedom and that is by needing just one job.
