American Idol Rewrite-Boundaries Poem by Ramona Thompson

American Idol Rewrite-Boundaries

Seconds, hours, so many days
You know what you want, but how long can you wait
Every moment lasts forever when you feel you’ve lost your way
What if my chances are already gone
Started believing that I could be wrong
But you give me one good reason
To fight and never walk away

So here I am — still holding on!

With every step you climb another mountain
Every breath it's harder to believe
You’ll make it through the pain
Weather the hurricanes
To get to that one thing

Just when you think the road is going nowhere
Just when you’ve almost gave up on your dreams
Then take it by the hand and show you that you can
There are no boundaries
There are no boundaries

I fought to the limit to stand on the edge
What if today is as good as it gets
Don't know where the future's heading
But nothing's gonna bring me down

I've jumped every bridge and I've heard every lie
I've risked being safe but I always knew why
I always knew why

So here I am - still holding on!

With every step you climb another mountain
Every breath it's harder to believe
You’ll make it through the pain
Weather the hurricanes
To get to that one thing

Just when you think the road is going nowhere
Just when you’ve almost gave up on your dreams
Then take it by the hand and show you that you can

You can go higher
You can go deeper
There are no boundaries
Above and beneath you
Break every rule cause there’s nothing between you and your dreams

With every step you climb another mountain
Every breath it's harder to believe
Yeah
There are no boundaries
There are no boundaries

With every step you climb another mountain
Every breath it's harder to believe
You’ll make it through the pain
Weather the hurricanes

There are no boundaries
There are no boundaries
There are no boundaries

My rewrite of the song No Boundaries by the new American Idol, Kris Allen.

Which one do you like better? His or mine? Let me know.

Seconds, hours, so many days
You finally got what you wanted, but how long will it take
Before every moment with them starts to like its dragging on forever
And all you want is to throw it all back away
Too late
Seems the chance to go back to who you were is already gone
Never dreamed it could all go so wrong
Trying hard to think of one good reason
To fight for your dream
To stop wanting so desperatly to walk away

20 years later
You're still there
Wondering why you're bothering holding on

With every step you climb they throw up another mountain
Tell you it's just not good enough
Gotta go back and do it all over again
Every breath, every show
It's that much tougher to fake
Popping pills just to cover the pain
Weather worn by bad tempers and musical hurricances
Gave it all up
Sold your soul
Just to get that one thing
And now you wonder why

Just when you think you've escaped
They pull you back onto that road
That road leading to nowhere
Just when you think you've gotten it all
They come back and crush your dreams
Snatch up by the hand, shake their fingers and say without them
There's no way you ever can
That's when finally the truth dawns
No matter what you do
No matter how hard you try
There will always be boundaries
There will always be boundaries

Pushed to the limit
Hanging by a thread
You stand on the edge
Thinking what if today was good as good as it's ever gonna get
Don't know
Not even sure anymore if you care where the future's heading
Seems everybody and everything is out only to bring you
To tear you down

They've made you burn every bridge
They've told you every lie
You risked it all
Thought you played it safe
Thought this was what you wanted
Now you wonder why
Now you wonder why

20 years later
You're still there
Wondering why you're bothering holding on

With every step you climb they throw up another mountain
Tell you it's just not good enough
Gotta go back and do it all over again
Every breath, every show
It's that much tougher to fake
Popping pills just to cover the pain
Weather worn by bad tempers and musical hurricances
Gave it all up
Sold your soul
Just to get that one thing
And now you wonder why

Just when you think you've escaped
They pull you back onto that road
That road leading to nowhere
Just when you think you've gotten it all
They come back and crush your dreams
Snatch up by the hand, shake their fingers and say without them
There's no way you ever can
That's when finally the truth dawns
No matter what you do
No matter how hard you try
There will always be boundaries
There will always be boundaries

Too late
Now you know better
You'll never go any higher
You'll never be able to dig any deeper
'Cause there will always be boundaries
Above and beneath you
To mess with you
To use you
'Till there's nothing left of your or your old dreams

With every step you climb they throw up another mountain
Tell you it's just not good enough
Gotta go back and do it all over again
Every breath, every show
It's that much tougher to fake
Popping pills just to cover the pain
Weather worn by bad tempers and musical hurricances
Gave it all up
Sold your soul
Just to get that one thing
And now you wonder why

With every step you climb they throw up another mountain
Tell you it's just not good enough
Gotta go back and do it all over again
Every breath, every show
It's that much tougher to fake
Popping pills just to cover the pain
Weather worn by bad tempers and musical hurricances
Gave it all up
Sold your soul
Just to get that one thing
And now you wonder why

'Cause there will always be boundaries
There will always be boundaries
There will always be boundaries
