An Afternoon On The Lake Poem by FienX lastname

An Afternoon On The Lake

Rating: 5.0

The sun shone down to highlight the tip of every passing wave
Glazing my feet, the same soft ripples, gentle kicks paved
The now damp towel brushed against our thighs that were huddled together
An afternoon, on the placid lake, with perfect weather
Oh the wonders of golden rays,
settling into the skin till its radiates
This healthy glow that brightens a smile and draws out a laugh
A timeless breeze when taken back
All I can see now, the water the sun and masterpieces sitting alongside me
We were cats lounging about
Sun bathing, all sprawled out
Talking about life and the great changes it brought
In a single year, a tragedy wrought
But alas there was still so much hope for the upcoming days
And a quiet golden peace locked in that sober summer daze
Serene and scenic, the clouds merely passed
Graceful long legs danced low, danced low
Without a sting or a scratch, just skimming ever so
Oh but a small portion of the earth God barely tapped
And I carefully held close
Sometimes it feels like the memories are all that remain
But I remember the life that gleamed in every sparkle that the sun touched
And the wish to make that place a home to stay
But the place of residence was elsewhere and there was reason to continue the fray
Say, what do I have of this now, I don't have very much
But I still sometimes see the sun, the lake and few good people
That's quite enough
