An Emergency Landing Poem by Daya Nandan

An Emergency Landing

There was a A commercial flight with 326 people on board,
Soaring in the sky to a world unexplored,
Excited passengers awaiting the end of their flight,
Floating in a chair above land to witness a spectacular sight,

And as they were flying across the Atlantic ocean,
Full of rapture and a joyful emotion,
But things changed faster than the switching of a tv channel,
Hot coffee was accidentally spilled over the cockpit control panel,

A strong electrical burning smell and smoke was rising from the controls,
You could hear the screaming and fear from panicking souls,
A pilot put his coffee cup without a lid on a tray table rather than in a cup holder,
And now the pilots had a heavy problem upon each shoulder,

They were scared for their lives and all the people aboard,
Praying in hopes for mercy from the lord,
Their prayers were answered for they managed to make an emergency landing,
Never more thankful for the chance to be alive and standing.
