An Endless Ending Poem by Dakota Ellerton

An Endless Ending

You told me you loved me
then you'd kiss me sweetly
pull me behind a bush
and finish discreetly

I don't know what you want from me
or what you expect
I can't be your toy
I don't want to be your pet

We hid what we had done
a few secrets between us
we tried to stay friend's
no fight and no fuss

But the truth is I miss you
I need you more then ever
I never really said it
but I'll love you forever

I said to you 'Let's get married in Vegas'
you'd just smile and ask why me
I'd try to explain
'Because I love you -, and you say you love me'.

I stepped out of the picture
because I thought that's what you wanted
now I'm cursed with bad dreams,
I'm followed, I'm haunted.

Always pushing aside my feelings
to make way for another
just walk all over me
call it death by a smother.
