An Entire Month Of The Year Poem by D.S. Bell

An Entire Month Of The Year

When does support become ‘over saturation'?
For 30 days we celebrate their liberation,
Their pride and their self-affirmation.
Of course, I'm in full support of their representation,
But please god, could we have it in moderation!

When does creating awareness become ‘vanity seeking'?
Am I the only one in my generation speaking
To all those in support could we have some critiquing;
Surely 30 days is too much, their egos must be peaking!

Now I'm sure I've offended a few people here,
Wasn't my intention just to be clear,
I speak from the heart; I'm always sincere,
And do not indulge in unwarranted smear.

But as I've said before, and of this I do adhere,
Surely in this day and age
They have nothing to fear,
And I'm sure, like many others
I'm for empowering the queer,
But why must they celebrate
For an entire month of the year?

The rhyme scheme of the poem is something admire big time. A beautiful poem written with insight.
