Anchors And Forgotten Promises -Continued- Poem by Curry Bascue

Anchors And Forgotten Promises -Continued-

The ocean is now my home.
A home that reaches beyond limits.
Vast and caring I feel the waves speak to me,
They speak words of strength in my ear.
Strength I have yet to know or understand.

As I listen the sky goes dark,
Dark as the oil of hatred that fuels a fools heart.
The waves crash and sway,
And I can feel myself being dragged to the bottom of the sea.
I look below me and I see more anchors.
They pull me down yet again!
What is pulling me down again?
No

Her memory means nothing to me
Then why am I sinking! ?
Am I destined to be forever at the bottom of the sea?
I refuse to believe it.
Is my heart that weak
No!

I’m not done yet,
I refuse to be beaten!
I see someone above me,
They swim down and embrace me and unlock the chains.
As I swim to the surface she speaks to me.

“I refuse to let go as long as you do the same”.
She was once abandoned as well,
Yet never lost hope.
I could stay here forever,
Because my heart has found a home with her.
