And I Heard The Sound Of The Sirens Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

And I Heard The Sound Of The Sirens

And I heard the sound of the sirens
And
It was a sound of luring
And
It was a sound of sad profound
Whose every note called
To pains of solitudes
to vomiting-propensity of life
to the plans of a suicide:
a confused suicide yet a suicide
again
and
again
the cry
the notes
the alluring
the ghastly face
of sick silences the sound
and
the sea-coast of rock
of abandonment
from all sides
everywhere
this time
of kilometer after kilometer of siren song
