And Now I See The Sun Poem by Gert Strydom

And Now I See The Sun

And now I see the sun
hanging like an arrow
in the sky
and the clouds gliding by
like puffs of a snake’s hiss
forming vapour with watery tongues
and huge shadows spread
while the sun passes
with its bright white hot radiance
and next to me
the river wriggles
mighty and free
in its summer flood
with swirling, surging waters
and I mere man is struck
by the power and beauty,
the sweet serenity
that nature holds.
