And Then I Hear Your Voice Poem by Andrew Rose

And Then I Hear Your Voice

She is the image in my head that blocks out all others,
And takes me from the reality of sound
To a place where sound no longer occurs,
A world outside of a world.
So many nights I have lost sleep,
In this unforgiving joy of a place
Because I deny my feelings of love,
And this is a dangerous thing to do.

I’ll be able to keep my feelings at bay,
It’ll be so much easier like this…
Oh, but I’d forgotten how pretty you were,
Until the instance I saw you again.

A giddy excitement crosses my lips,
The words flow easily from me,
Feeling so overwhelmed now
I find it hard to catch my breath.
A smile I keep throughout,
I can’t stop looking at you in all your beauty;
Your mouth, your cheeks, your nose, your eyes,
My eyes cannot escape.
Do you realise this?

Then I hear that voice…
And I hang off your every word.
