Angels Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

I am convinced there are angels
watching over us… angels that keep
us safe from harm when nothing
else can… even when we're asleep

When facing certain forces that
are intent on scaring and maiming
miraculously without a hair harmed…
a calmness surrounds as if tamed

As if traveling through a tunnel
filled with flames… the searing
is extinguished with a single breath…
a heavenly spirit is preserving

To what end, I ask myself would
an angel stay close to my side…
to protect and see me through perils
with God's love holding back the tide

This earthly existence has purpose
that unfolds before the eyes of each
of us… to accomplish and contribute
until a day of deliverance is reached
