Anguish Poem by Anne Onymous

Anguish

A million miles of empty road
Drift slowly through my mind
The fading stars of loves young dream
Scattered, throughout time
A fleeting glimpse of one I touched
Whose soul I once danced to
Who now is gone beyond my reach
to another soul he flew

I hear them laugh, I see them play
I hear her call his name
I picture both upon the hearth
Making love within the flames
My heart screams out with aching pain
No more can this soul take
My anguish lays coiled in my mind
A poisonous, whispering snake
