Another Blunt Turned To Ashes Poem by Ndina Kamaro Muofhe

Another Blunt Turned To Ashes

Another blunt turned to ashes
while the young minds are
stuck in wishes
Living life eating from empty
dishes.

Born in dark streets under
shade less trees
Everyday life, is struggles and
tears
Out in the streets, everyone
searches for peace
Every heart is in a struggle to
fight down fears
Life is another game of chess
We battle against gods and
goddesses
Friends and enemies..

Time never looks back
Wasted minute is gone forever
So, to survive you have to do
whatever
This life has only one limit
Not even the sky but death
You might be me, it awaits
whoever

Another blunt turned to ashes
A dry throat would need a
scotch
When the spirit is gone
crushing thoughts
Oh! Yesterday is still alive
She is a nightmare to our lives
Though we tried to burn
connecting bridges,
She's always here with us
You see her when you look
around
Only to see children walking
barefooted,
eating dung and naked in the
cold
It's when you know she is
never dead
These are pains she inflicted in
them
If she is dead, they must perish
too
But who am I to cry?

Another blunt turned to ashes
As bodies fell down on the
ground
Knocked by fists of reality.
It become hard for mamas'
tears to cease the flow
Numbers increased of
descending caskets in a row.
It's just another untold story of
these streets
Another community raising
orphans
Sluts, thugs, binges and cocaine
Someone has to hold their
judging horses

Another blunt turned to ashes
As diseases attack like a flock of
hungry lions
Pockets are too torn to afford
the medical bills
Like ants, they perish under a
rolling wheel
Yesterday sleeps on top of
millions
Madam Delilah shares not
She rather throw for cats and
dogs
while other children's bellies
grumble
But she teaches one love to
another
All that, just to deceive a
brother

Another blunt turned to ashes
As we tie our shoe laces
To continue with our struggle
