Another Season Poem by Kristen Krueger

Another Season

Rating: 4.3

He starts packing his bags
grabbing his clothes and everything else he needs.
We stand in the doorway watching him
trying to hold back all the tears.
He packs his truck that night
to get ready to leave the very next day

It is his last night home for the
next eight months.
Early the next morning we are all
awake to say our goodbyes
and watch him pull out of the
drive way. It is another season of him
going away to play in the
raging flames of the forest.
Another season of our mother
worrying, missing the protection
of him in our home, and
another season of nightmares
until he returns home safe and sound.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Lovely and insightful depiction of emotional stress which families of fire fighters go through, as they await the return of their beloved fire warriors. A well articulated narrative piece of poetry nicely penned with conviction. Thanks for sharing Kristen. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
