Antediluvia Poem by Muogbo Ifeanyi

Antediluvia

Herein lies the tale of Antediluvia.
The world that is, was, and yet was not.
Of Antediluvia's end, tales were told.
Whether Antediluvia really existed, annals never told.
The universe was once two worlds, so I once read;
Antediluvia and Puritania, so the annals claimed.
A world of wretchedness and wickedness, so Antediluvia was.
A world of goodness and sunshine, so Puritania was.
With trepidation and gloom, singers of old recounted Antediluvia's destruction;
with joy and gaiety, choristers of the heavenlies sang about Puritania's glory.
Maelstroms, siroccos, tornados and hurricanes;
tides, cyclones, waves and oceans;
a formidable alliance formed they,
to tear from reality's fabric Antediluvia's very existence.
So absolute their destruction was,
that in trepidation, the universe cringed.
When alas Antediluvia was destroyed,
the alliance broke and the universe calmed;
Unscathed and glorious, Puritania remained.

Time's silky thread, the Creator spurn.
Long gone was Antediluvia's existence;
into obscurity, Puritania's existence seemed to fade.
Yet whispers still voices into the hearts of men;
deep truths about Puritania's existence.
The world today, Puritania it once was.
From the very heart of old Puritania, corruption blossomed.
A shadow of her ancient self, Puritania now is.
Indeed, whispers calm still voices;
Antediluvia is arisen anew.
Wickedness and sinfulness abound still.
Upon the world, perdition's son has been let loose.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is a duplet allegory retelling the biblical story of the world's destruction by the antediluvian flood.
The poem paints an avid imagery of the circumstances surrounding God's decision to destroy the evil world.Antediluvia allegorically symbolizes all humans and creatures destroyed by the flood because of their gross evil while Puritania allegorically symbolizes the survivors of the antediluvial flood; Noah and his family.
For a scriptural rendering of the poem, reference should be made to chapters seven and eight of the biblical book of Genesis.

An interesting supposition of what the account might depict. Perhaps your research was not as deep as could be, there are more references to be compared. Read Mine - The Moment of Life - Adeline
