Ants Poem by Eddie Roa

Ants

hush now and be still
listen to the hustling ants
leaves, kernel, grains
busy lugging and hauling
beams, planks and mortar
to rebuild a squashed community
flattened by hobnailed boots
not once but over and over
but man will tire of his malice
and the hill will be built
a testimony to the ants'
indomitable instinct
