Anxiety Poem by Cookie Matzii

Anxiety

She walks down the hallway with her friends by her side.
Then, she sees you coming.
Immediately, she wants to hide.
So she just stops and freezes,
to avoid contact with you.
'Cause with her movements,
you might find her feelings, true.

Yet she comes to her senses,
she knows her friends are feeling the heat.
She just wants to stay away,
before you hear her heart's beat.

All the anxiety,
she feels when you're near.
Yet she feels it's all worthless,
'cause actually..
you don't even care,
but she can't seem to talk to you,
without having to stare.

So this happened one time,
when you sat near this kid.
She never knew what was coming,
oh, anxiety..
she felt, she did.
So the time came,
'Let us join hands together',
the facilitator declared.
The girl didn't know what to do,
muddled thoughts came to her head,
to follow, oh, she dared.

And so she was holding,
the hand of her dream,
it was awkward, of course, why not?
And while this was happening,
her heart she said was like throbbing..
you've got it tied in a knot.

Her friend even teased about this,
it got her blushing on the phone,
she never knew it would happen..
oh, damn, she was shown.

But her only wish..
once in her life,
she could talk to you,
before you finally get a wife.
Talk to you without having to hear her heart's bothering beat,
her heart beats fast even before a contact starts,
even before the important parts.
She wishes you would care for her feelings, true...
for all of these,
frankly, it's all because of you.
