Apartheid And God's Grace Poem by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen

Apartheid And God's Grace

Apartheid was a seed of discord,
a poison injected into human mind
to segregate peoples of races and colors.

Apartheid bloomed and richly existed
in societal and political institutions
guarded by the power of weapons.

But God's grace of love for all
cleansed the poison, broke the chains
that apartheid guarded for generations.

Nelson Mandela, Bishop Desmond Tutu,
and many more unsung heroes
brought in the seeds of reconciliation.

Even in deep deep cold darkness
God's light of grace breaks through.
