Apathy Rages Unchecked

I have a strong aversion to.
Doing what I’m told to do
Though other people think I should
I have a different attitude
I have a brain I choose to use
To form my independent views.
Although I’m sure to face abuse
Because I stubbornly refuse
To do what they expect of me
To be what they want me to be
I am a man and I am free.
To live the way that I want to
And do the things I choose to do.
Although the vast majority
do as they’re told quite happily.
They are bogged down in apathy
they can’t think independently.
they either can’t or don’t want to
It makes me sad but I must say
They choose to take the easy way.
They follow like a flock of sheep
Because their minds are lulled to sleep.
they are bombarded constantly.
with adverts by the powers that be.
Which are designed to fill their mind
to make quite sure they never find.
Any reason to complain.
Because they cannot use their brain..
They are convinced that they are free
and yet submit to slavery.
At least that’s how it seems to me.
Things aren’t as they appear to be
Although the vast majority.
Accept things as they seem to be.
