Apology Poem by Maya Spitz

Apology

Rating: 5.0

You have finally done it
Should I be suprised?
That is for you to decide
You didn't even give us a chance to save the one thing we loved
Best friends torn apart like paper
Hard working teachers searching desperately for jobs
This is what our children learn?
That life is just about getting what you want?
You should be forced to answer our children's shocked questions
Of 'why' and 'how could they do that to us'
You cannot stop the problems you single handedly created
You cannot pick up the shattered glass and arrange it in a crystalline pattern
What you have done is done
If you ask for advice, here it is
Be an adult, do the right thing
Apologize for the damage and destruction you created
And when you're ready, we'll listen
