April Fool's Day Poem by Deanna Samuels

April Fool's Day

Is there ever a time when you can play a joke
and then get away with it without even a poke!
You've thought up all the funny ways
to take on a friend for a hoax for days
and when the deed is truly done
however cute or given fun
you can be on your way as free as the sun
and not taken to task for that jibe or that rasp.

BUT - only today - though even then - beware!
Do the deed before the clock strikes noon
otherwise, the joke is turned round
and will be on your back
to even get a whack!

And remember -
ONLY for today, not tomorrow or next May

because today is -
April Fool's day!

I remember, how in our younger days, used to play practical jokes on one another and enjoy the day.
