Are They Going To Drop The Bomb Or Not? (Italian Sonnet) Poem by Gert Strydom

Are They Going To Drop The Bomb Or Not? (Italian Sonnet)

I remember a song where they were singing:
'are they going to drop the bomb or not, '
I get the impression: life does not mean a lot,
where barbaric tactics the news is bringing,

actions that the soul of man is stinging:
Putin wants to use nuclear bombs he has got,
at the biggest nuclear-plant in Europe is shot,
while civilians to possessions are clinging.

The fires are extinguished at that power-plant,
the world is relieved, remember Chernobyl,
while still total annihilation is near
and I pray that God do salvation grant:
where a psychopath with nuclear war fill:
the heart with the most terrible kind of fear.
