Are We Of Lesser Men Poem by Derek Pape

Are We Of Lesser Men

Are we of lesser men void of the right thing to do?

Of questionable deeds committed in the gray area far from the black and the white.

This is the commerce of life.

The glass house seems more impervious to stones when you are sitting on the outside.

Quick to judge the actions of others yet not wanting your weavings and conniving scrutinized.

Is this the reasoning of lost souls destined for a better plain of existence?

Or the dammed doomed to the judgments of those lesser than themselves.

In the abyss there is salvation, or is it the continuous black of nothingness.

When all is said and done and you sit alone in the dark, in quiet silence listening to your soul.

At that moment your creator will whisper in your mind and let you know you are loved and the world you desire for yourself is the one you create.
