Are You Me? Poem by moon batchelder

Are You Me?

who are you?
i am everyone
and no one, in particular.
i am many, yet none
any day now i may disappear,
or become something new.
just so
who are you?

are you me?
in some variant circumstance? see,
there's no difference between you and i.
but experience forges perception of being
and identity claims you are you.
all the same... are you me?

am i you?
aren't i really just what you would be?
given my point of reference within
reality.
like water takes on the shape of each glass
our appearances differ, yet we
are in essence the same,
aren't we?

*the mayans have a saying
'in lakech'...which is a greeting which means 'i am another yourself'
