As I go into the Night (with a smile upon my face)
by Dwayne Leon Rankin
Give me sunshine on a streaming brook,
Near by a sheltered shady nook.
A place where I may sit a spell
And find the words that I may tell
Of the beauty of this place.
Bring to me those sounds heard on the breeze;
Of birds found singing in the trees.
Of winds that blow across the creek
As if it wants to go forth to seek...
But then leaves without a trace.
Give me blue skies that I may see
The glories of this day that be.
With mountains tall that touch the sky;
Where clouds all softly, lofty lie
In serenity and grace.
Let me sit there till the day is done,
That I may see where goes the sun.
Then sit within that soft starlight
As I go into the night...
With a smile upon my face.
