As I Was Thinking Poem by Dorsey Baker

As I Was Thinking

soft as snow
hard as ice
the peaks and the valleys
of life contemplate
the meanings we attach
to all levels of our confusion
as we lose the ability to trust
in one another
we become ignorant
and give in to our illusions
forming our perspectives
without allowing ourselves
to question our motives
when covered so much in praise
that our faults
we cannot see
those that might want to pity us
these element
soft as snow
hard as ice
