As Long As Your Silence Exists Poem by Dr. Shukdeb Mazumder

As Long As Your Silence Exists

As long as your silence exists
--------------------------------
Shukdeb Mazumder

You gave me a resigned sigh
but did not give me the utterance-
I do not love you.

And so I am still in the state so-so,
still in the hope that one day
the sunflower of my desire will meet the sun,
my nightingale-dream will never be a nightmare.

The sky will kiss the ground heavily
guarded by 1001 roses,
the airy clouds will soon turn into the
Towering cumulus ready to make rains.

It is to be remembered that
a great many water droplets make a cloud-
every word of yours is a droplet to me.

A word affirmative arisen from your silence
is a rain drop,
even your silence is a kind of rain to me-
as long as your silence exists, my
thirst for your love will exist.
