Cast A Spell On Me Poem by Shukdeb Mazumder

Cast A Spell On Me

Shukdeb Mazumder

Cast a spell on me and turn me into a butterfly
or a valiant bird
so that I can suck honey from flowers or fly
above the local sky linked to the ground hard.

Cast a spell on me and turn me into a spring
or a rainfall heavy
so that I can feel the stony heart of the mount
or overflow the barren banks and long levee.

Cast a spell on me and turn me into a prime poet
or a rare artist
so that I can saturate the beauty with poesy
or draw the dreams daring to remove the mist.

Cast a spell on me and turn me into an idol
or an amethyst
so that I can grab the gravity of yours for ever
or be used as a gem for your pendant kissed.

You have a magic wand of words, smile, glance
gesture, behavior or treating-
any of which can mould me into a magnificent
man- able to get your memorable meeting.
